Cell wall not protecting the cell?
Cell walls are known for providing rigidity and protection to the cell, but sometimes even the cell wall can harm the cell.
If it malfunctions- The cell wall may malfunction due to an alarming change in pH or a change in the rigidity could cause the cell to burst if it absorbs to much water. This causes the cell to lose its structure, making the cell exposed to infection.
Plasmodesmatas are channels in the cell wall that allow nutrients, waste and ions through; however they can also cause water to leave the cell. The loss of water causes the cell to lose rigidity, also making the cell susceptible to infection.
Overall, any problems with the cell wall causes the cell to be prone to infection, which can overall lead to cell death. We cannot have a leader who can't even hold up its own job!
